Responsibilities
Teach Humanities courses at various times and locations, up to five classes per academic year.
Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of material.
Submit required college reports and forms timely.
Follow institutional course syllabus guidelines.
Meet with and advise students by appointment via email, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
Evaluate students, report progress, and provide feedback.
Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, and community.
Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Mastery of course content.
Leadership and collaborative facilitation skills.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with diverse people.
Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, adult learning methodologies.
Commitment to academic excellence and dynamic climate for lifelong learning.
Ability to implement instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities, and technology.
Use of effective strategies to engage students.
Requirements
Master’s degree in humanities, liberal arts, art history, classical studies, or equivalent (minimum 18 graduate hours in philosophy, English literature, arts, history, or humanities).
Physical & Work Conditions
Work is sedentary, with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving.
Uses PC workstation, calculator, phone, general office equipment.
Work performed in climate‑controlled classroom/lab environment.
Hours vary by class; available outside class instruction.
Compensation & Benefits Salary:
$55.44 per contact hour.
