Responsibilities
You will demonstrate knowledge of physiology and function of the venous system of the human body, and collection techniques used to draw blood from patients.
You will collect blood samples from patients per laboratory policy and procedure.
You will decide the best method for drawing blood depending on the specific patient.
You will practice proper patient identification.
You will label blood vials according to established procedures including use of automated patient identification systems.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a certified phlebotomy course (strongly preferred).
Demonstrated phlebotomy experience.
Interpersonal skills to successfully interact with all co-workers, staff, patients, patient families and vendors.
Good phlebotomy, computer, and communication skills.
