Novant Health Neurology & Headache - SouthPark is seeking a full-time Certified Medical Assistant! The role of the Certified Medical Assistant is to coordinate and assist the provider to ensure safe quality/cost effective service and care for the people within the practice population.
What You'll Do
Patient Rooming: Efficiently prepare exam rooms and escort patients for timely appointments.
Inbox Management: Manage electronic in-baskets, including sending messages to providers and patients, processing prescription refills, and responding promptly to inquiries.
Order Reviews: Verify and process provider orders to maintain accuracy and compliance.
Collaborative Support: Work closely with clinical staff to ensure smooth operations and deliver exceptional patient care in a high-volume, fast-moving environment.
What We're Looking For
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Must be a graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program; curriculum must include pharmacology and medication administration. Certification/registry must be obtained by the last day of the sixth month of hire, and an education agreement signed. Accepted certifications: CMA (AAMA), CCMA (NHA), RMA (AMT, ARMA), American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), American Allied Health (AAH), American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). Alternative Work Experience: for eligibility to take NHA, ARMA, NHCWA, NCCT, NAHP or AMT exams, if not already certified or registered on hire: must have served as a supervised medical assistant for minimum 1 year (NHA or NHCWA) within the last 3 years, 2 years (NCCT, NAHP), 3 years (ARMA), 5 years (AMT) over last 7 years (no more than 2 as instructor). Or graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing. Experience must include both clinical (including medication administration) and administrative duties.
Experience: Previous work in a medical office preferred.
Licensure / Certification:
Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required.
Current State Driver's License (Palliative Care Only), required.
Additional Skills (required): Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
