The Opportunity The candidate will be responsible for managing sales within both the existing and targeted (prospect) customer base operating in the Biopharmaceutical and RX Pharmaceutical Ethical space, namely Contract Manufacturer Organization (CMO), Sponsor (pharma companies), Clinical Trial, and Clinical Research Organizations (CRO) focused on the supply of Smurfit Westrock proprietary Adherence & Clinical Trial packaging and service solutions. The essence of the role is to develop and manage the prospective and existing account base with a project management mindset and solutions approach. This approach will be supported by an individual with knowledge, commitment, and drive to progress projects. The job holder would ideally have knowledge of the Pharmaceutical & Clinical Trial marketplace and operations and be familiar and comfortable with all the key stakeholders including marketing, packaging development, operations, and procurement. The candidate may have a background in primary packaging, project management, technical or engineering and understands, or experiences across a range of medical therapeutics and disease states. Being responsible for a North American geography fluency in spoken and written English is essential. It is expected the candidate will have an aptitude for Sales. Expertise around Adherence & Clinicals can be developed. The candidate should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the cornerstone concepts of Solution Selling, displaying excellence in sales technique and confidence in dealing with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels in the product development and packaging decision making process.
What you need to succeed
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year university or college, preferably in Packaging or a related technical/ Medical field OR relevant Sales/Industry experience
Proven history of business development success & delivery
Must have excellent personal computer skills, including experience with e-mail, Excel, social media, word processing and PowerPoint presentations
Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability and desire to communicate verbally and in writing effectively at all levels
Be culturally aware. Relevant language skills desirable
Effective business presentation skills, one-on-one’ or group settings
Must have strong organizational and project management skills
Business development experience within a manufacturing environment
Budget and cost management
Product and service knowledge within the Pharmaceutical, Medical and Clinical environment
Proven ability to build and maintain effective customer relationships
Project management and critical thinking skills
Commercial acumen

The salary range for this position is $55,500.00 – $92,500.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The range listed is also the expected pay for roles in Illinois and Colorado. The benefits for this role include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 10 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
