About the Position Fusion Medical Staffing seeks an experienced Operating Room RN for a 13‑week travel assignment in Kansas City, Missouri. The role involves comprehensive peri‑operative patient care, ensuring safety and comfort throughout surgical procedures.
Required Qualifications
One year of recent experience as an OR RN
Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
ACLS, PALS, or ENPC certifications (AHA/ARC)
OR Nursing Certification (CNOR)
Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
Essential Work Functions
Prepares the operating room, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional for each surgical procedure.
Assists in positioning and preparing patients, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety according to procedural requirements.
Maintains a sterile field throughout surgical procedures and adheres to infection‑control protocols and sterile technique.
Anticipates the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly to maintain efficient workflow.
Monitors the patient's condition during surgery, documenting significant changes and notifying the surgeon.
Handles surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring proper use, sterilization, and disposal according to facility protocols.
Manages specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to facility protocols, ensuring accurate diagnostic results.
Documents all aspects of patient care in the peri‑operative setting accurately and thoroughly.
Participates in patient handoff communication during pre‑ and post‑operative phases, ensuring continuity of care.
Assists in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, adhering to infection‑control and turnover protocols.
Collaborates with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards.
Follows hospital safety rules and procedures, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures.
Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
Required Essential Skills
Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Proficiency in PC skills and ability to read and comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions.
Physical abilities: remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, bend.
Interpersonal skills: work effectively with various personnel, maintain a positive attitude and professionalism.
Technical/motor skills: grasp, perform fine manipulation, assist with procedures.
Mental requirements: cope with frequent contact with the public, meet deadlines under pressure, work with or without supervision, handle irregular schedules, maintain concentration to detail.
Sensory: possess visual acuity and effective communication.
