Metrology & Dimensional Quality Lead (Automotive Casting)

Company:

Aisin Automotive Casting Tennessee Inc. Location:

Clinton, TN Pay Range:

$18.00/hr - $25.00/hr Day at a glance:

It’s 7:15 a.m. in Clinton. You start by loading a complex engine casting into the Zeiss CT system to visualize internal geometry and verify integrity. By mid-morning, you’re switching to the CMM to validate critical dimensions against drawings and GD&T, building custom fixtures to secure parts for a flawless measurement setup. After lunch, you capture surface data with an ATOS or Keyence 3D scanner, overlaying point clouds against CAD. You wrap up by analyzing results in specialized software, writing a concise report, and partnering with engineering and production to close the loop on corrective actions. What you’ll own

Operate advanced metrology systems: Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), ATOS or Keyence 3D scanners, Zeiss CT scanner, roundness tester (Form Trace), and surface trace instruments. Plan and execute dimensional inspections to prints and GD&T; design and set up fixtures for stable, repeatable measurement on all equipment. Capture and compare 3D scan data to CAD or reference standards for detailed surface analysis. Perform computed tomography scans to evaluate internal features, identify defects, and validate complex engine component integrity. Interpret product drawings, technical specifications, and GD&T to ensure rigorous inspection methods. Conduct comprehensive QA evaluations: dimensional checks, material/finish reviews, and functional testing; interpret results and determine conformance. Analyze measurement datasets with specialized software and prepare clear, actionable reports. Maintain complete documentation for traceability, including inspection records, test results, and quality procedures. Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality to resolve issues, implement corrective actions, and improve processes. Champion adherence to quality standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols. What you bring

Deep knowledge of quality control principles, methods, and tools. Hands‑on proficiency with metrology and lab equipment for dimensional, material, and functional tests. Meticulous attention to detail in testing, data capture, and documentation. Fluency in reading engineering drawings and interpreting technical specs and GD&T. Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills for fast, effective containment and resolution. Clear written and verbal communication; able to influence cross‑functional teams. Comfort working independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced setting. Familiarity with quality management systems and standards (preferred). Exposure to MSA (Measurement System Analysis) and statistical skip‑lot concepts. Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement. 3–5 years of QA/QC experience in manufacturing; automotive preferred. Education & Training
