Job Summary Shambaugh Fire Protection is looking for an entry level fire protection inspector to support inspections, testing, and maintenance (ITM) of fire safety systems. This role helps ensure all fire protection equipment meets local, state, and national safety standards. They will handle preparation, documentation, basic testing tasks, and onsite support.
Pay Range:
$18-22 per hour
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assist lead technicians with inspection of fire protection systems, including:
Fire Alarms
Fire Sprinklers
Fire extinguishers
Backflow Devices
Emergency Lights
FARS - Breathing air
Prepare job site by organizing tools, equipment and inspection materials
Perform basic tasks such as pressure checks, tagging extinguishers, and recording gauge readings under supervision
Document inspection findings accurately using digital software by maintaining inspection logs, service reports, and compliance documentation
Communicate professionally with building owners, managers and occupants
Follow safety protocols and wear required PPE at all times
Fulfill all other duties as assigned and needed
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid drivers license with clean driving record
Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical fire protection systems
Good communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to pass background checks required for fire/life safety work
Physical Demands
Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work on ladders, lifts, or tight spaces
Work Environment
Ability to travel daily to customer sites/meetup point for primarily field-based work
Ability to work exposed to mechanical rooms, industrial environments, and outdoor conditions
Ability to regularly use hand tools, ladders, and safety equipment
Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required
