Responsibilities Summary The Substance Abuse Counselor conducts and/or facilitates individual and group therapy sessions, to include drug and alcohol abuse cognitive programming, life skills, anger management and education /treatment for clients. May communicate directly with customers as required by contractual obligations. Utilizes and models principles of evidence-based practices in all interactions with clients.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Substance Abuse Counselor conducts and/or facilitates intakes, individual, group and family therapy sessions, classes and orientation, following Company curriculum and standards using principles of evidence-based practices.

Maintains accurate clinical documentation including intake summaries/assessments, individual / group notes, discharge summaries, treatment plans and updates. Updates therapeutic logs in a timely manner. Enters pertinent information into data systems.

The Substance Abuse Counselor conducts risks/needs assessments and creates individual treatment plans for each assigned client.

Communicates relevant, accurate and adequate information regarding clients’ needs/concerns/issues to supervisor and other appropriate parties.

May communicate client status/updates to customers as required by contract.

The Substance Abuse Counselor attends regular clinical supervision meetings to ensure communication between team members and collaboration on case management.

Attends and participates in all staff meetings, workshops and trainings.

Familiar with various treatment models, including: Strategies for Self-Improvement and Change; Cognitive Therapy; Relapse Prevention; Family Therapy; and 12-Step Facilitation.

Familiar with working with resistive clients and manage difficult situations using de-escalation tactics.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, counseling psychology. Masters degree in Counseling, Social workor other behavorial Helath field preferred

Certified Addictions Counselor II (CAC II) is required. Certified Addiction Counselor III or Licensed Addiction Counselor is preferrd.

3 years experience experience in conducting group therapy sessions or an outpatient substance abuse treatment clinic with a diverse poplulation preferred.

Experience providing drug/alcohol and mental health treatment to adult offenders preferred.

Must have excellent presentation, group facilitation and interpersonal skills.

Highly organized with knowledge of clinical file maintenance.

Valid state issued drivers license required

Pay & Bonus Pay USD $35.00/Hr. Bonus (if applicable): Sign on $4000.00
