Posted 1 day ago. This is a full‑time, hourly position at the newly constructed Rowe Family Early Learning Center in Penacook. Base pay: $16.19/hr – $19.92/hr.
Summary The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire is hiring Associate Teachers to uphold our mission, support children and teachers, and ensure the health and safety of our members. Key responsibilities include engaging with children, assisting with cleaning and organization, documenting child observations, and learning child development and health and safety practices.
Responsibilities Prepare Youth for Success
Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
Respond sensitively to the interests, requests, and needs of individual children; interact positively, encouraging exploration; and use positive child‑guidance strategies.
Provide guidance and role‑modeling by planning and outlining curriculum to meet individual needs, incorporating an emergent curriculum.
Establish and maintain program goals to ensure health and safety.
Evaluate club programs continually, track outcome metrics, and verify that activities respond to member needs and address gender and cultural diversity.
Use child‑observation notes for curriculum planning and keep accurate, up‑to‑date records.
Continuously account for members in their assigned group by name and face.
Oversee implementation of NAEYC standards and GSQ (when applicable), Culture DNA code, and club rules and policies regarding safety, compliance, and best practices.
Dispense medications according to policy, administer first aid, and communicate occurrences to families.
Assist in cleaning, organizing, and maintaining classroom well‑being and upkeep.
Program Development, Implementation, and Supervision
Oversee proper record‑keeping and weekly reporting, including activities and events in the membership/finance system; provide data to a Center Director or other applicable staff.
Facilitate open and effective, professional verbal and written communication with families, staff, and children.
Supervise classroom staff, students, and volunteers; give regular feedback on performance.
Support volunteers, practicum students, and staff through modeling techniques that connect theory to practice.
Lead planning meetings with the teaching team.
Increase program visibility via daily schedule postings, announcements on social‑media, family e‑mails, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
Relationships
Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with club staff, members, and supervisors; provide guidance and counsel.
External: Liaise with community groups, schools, parents, and others to resolve problems as needed.
Requirements
Must be a qualified associate teacher (no later than November 6, 2017) with ≥9 credits in related coursework or 1,000 hours of supervised child‑care experience; knowledge of child growth from one of the listed sources.
Must be 18 years or older.
Knowledge of current teaching methods, curriculum development, and quality program implementation.
Ability to form developmentally appropriate relationships and promote positive behavior.
Ability to motivate members and manage behavior problems with patience.
Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
Exceptional communication skills with staff, families, and community members.
Willingness to maintain the club dress code and adapt to different learning styles.
Must obtain CPR and First Aid certifications per licensing requirements.
May need to drive the club van/short bus; must have a safe driving record.
Required to assist in cleaning and organizing the club.
Must maintain confidentiality.
May need to travel between locations when requested (occasional).
Additional Expectations
All candidates must submit for FBI fingerprint background checks, State of NH Criminal Records, and FirstAdvantage checks. The Childcare Licensing Bureau may prohibit employment if a disqualifying finding occurs.
Zero‑tolerance policy for abuse; any mistreatment results in disciplinary action up to termination and cooperation with law enforcement.
