Police Officer Salary Range:

$45,220.00 - $62,710.00 per year (based on ACCS Board of Trustees Salary Schedule E2 03 and experience)

Responsibilities

Provide support to law‑enforcement, non‑law‑enforcement agencies, team members, and stakeholders.

Provide foot and vehicular patrol of the campus.

Respond to and investigate incidents including motor vehicle accidents or college violations.

Conduct complex misdemeanor and felony investigations, including interviewing, evidence collection, and case file preparation.

Provide security to the college community as requested, escorting personnel late at night, acting as witness at meetings involving irate personnel or students.

Enforce criminal and traffic laws, making arrests and issuing summons.

Secure college buildings; lock and unlock as requested.

Issue parking tickets and park decals; collect lost and found property; maintain records.

Transport mail and bank deposits; make electronic emergency notifications.

Escort dignitaries and provide executive security.

Detect and report hazardous conditions such as potholes and light outages.

Complete twelve hours of continuing education annually (APOST and other training). Assist and participate in emergency training, drills and exercises.

Monitor security cameras and maintain incident reports.

Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police.

Education High School or GED diploma required; Associate degree preferred.

Experience One year of full‑time equivalent work experience required.

Licenses & Certification

Current Alabama driver’s license.

APOST certification.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of city, state, and federal laws.

Ability to deal effectively with the public in emergency situations.

Knowledge of first aid/CPR.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

Ability to pass the weapons qualification requirement (APOST).

Ability to adapt to a rotational work schedule.

Ability to obtain NCIC certification.
