Base pay range $18.00/hr - $21.50/hr
Responsibilities
Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state and federal regulations, and in the performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB or ExCPT certified, assist and coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in the operation of the pharmacy cash registers.
Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, engaging customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance, resolving issues and answering questions to ensure a positive experience.
Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
Assist in the practice of pharmacy and review pharmacy code of conduct.
Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient information, filling prescriptions, verifying medication correctness, checking for interactions, and maintaining workflow.
Immediately report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies, procedures, and the Quality Improvement Program.
Adhere to Walgreens Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable dispensing activities.
Register all related sales on the assigned cash register, collect and handle cash as required, and guide customers to OTC aisles when possible.
Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including calls to physicians.
Process manual claims for third party prescription services and perform other clerical duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Support Pharmacy Department inventory management: ordering, unpacking, checking, storing, and filing claims for overages, shortages, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services, including collection and labeling of blood/urine samples, and coordination of clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics, and external providers.
Help develop relationships with local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and health care providers, through provider detailing and outreach to health groups.
Assist with exterior and interior maintenance to keep the Pharmacy Department stocked with adequate supplies and clean, neat, orderly condition.
Maintain respectful relationships with coworkers and comply with all company policies and procedures.
Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
Earn and maintain PTCB or ExCPT certification through the designated training program and/or state required certification/registration. Otherwise, earn PTCB or ExCPT certification as a condition of promotion to senior technician.
Attend training, complete PPLs requested by Manager, and acquire continuing education credits. Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Basic Qualifications
Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
Prefer good math skills for accurate prescription counting, measuring, and weighing.
Prefer good computer skills.
Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
Prefer PTCB or ExCPT certification.
