The Tioga County Maintenance Organization, part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, seeks an enthusiastic Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic to maintain highways and bridges. The role requires mechanical expertise, a commitment to safety and efficiency, and a passion for keeping machinery in optimal condition. Key Responsibilities
Conduct analytical assessments and perform preventive maintenance on construction machinery, heavy trucks, automobiles, and hand tools. Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Implement effective maintenance strategies and execute repairs to enhance equipment longevity. Adhere to safety procedures and maintain a safe operating environment for all personnel. Work Schedule and Additional Information
Full‑time employment. Work hours: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. Travel, overtime, and shift work required. No telework option. Starting annual salary: $55,492.00 (pre‑tax). Qualifications
Successful completion of the Commonwealth’s Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program, or Two years of journey‑level experience diagnosing and repairing automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, including one year with diesel vehicles, or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirements
Valid Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brake Restriction (L) removed. Must possess a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate. May need to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications for specific equipment. Pass the Department of Transportation’s New Mechanic Training course during probation. Subject to drug and alcohol testing. Legal Requirements
