Fleet Maintenance Supervisor Position Summary: The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising a maintenance shop under the umbrella responsibility of a Maintenance Manager. The Supervisor oversees a technician team responsible for preventive maintenance, repairs of a fleet; machinery that supports a post‑collection facility; and equipment that services the container shop. The Supervisor plans and schedules repair work to ensure safety, timeliness, and compliance with Company safety and compliance standards, as well as all federal and state regulations.

Principal Responsibilities

Provide direction to technicians in the work group to ensure all repair and maintenance work is performed safely, efficiently, and timely.

Monitor operational performance and efficiency and adjust activities as appropriate.

Report to management on performance and recommend process or programmatic improvements.

Supervise technicians in the maintenance shop, conduct daily shop huddles, fleet walks, coaching, counseling, and training; perform hiring/termination decisions in concert with Human Resources; conduct employee training and performance evaluations; recommend merit increases, promotions, and job changes.

Conduct inspections of outside repairs to ensure work complies with safety and compliance procedures and regulations.

Identify training opportunities, document issues, and discuss corrective action with technicians.

Conduct Quality Control Inspections, track issues and resolution.

Oversee repair diagnostics on complex matters and provide coaching; may be required to road test vehicles to determine repairs.

Maintain inventory control system for necessary equipment and parts levels, ensuring purchases sit within budget; approve expenses within scope; refer larger expenses to manager.

Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission, transmission, brake, hydraulic, electrical, HVAC, and welding systems to perform advanced preventive and repair maintenance on heavy equipment and vehicles.

Manage related administrative matters: payroll, employee records, preventive and corrective maintenance records; recording information into Dossier Maintenance Software; prepare and submit budget for approval; set departmental goals.

Qualifications

High school diploma or G.E.D.

Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification – T3 Drive, T4 Brake, T5 Suspension and Steering, T6 Electrical/Electronic, T7 HVAC Systems, ASE T2 Diesel Engine, ASE T Master Certified.

Minimum Requirements

3 years of experience in maintenance working with heavy equipment.

1 year of supervisory experience in a lead technician role or similar management role, with thorough knowledge of safe working practices, DOT, OSHA and other federal and state regulations.

Shift Information Second Shift Supervisor – 2 PM start time.
