The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program invites applications for a full-time, 9‑month Director of Clinical Education (DCE) faculty position. The successful candidate will play a vital role in coordinating and advancing clinical education within the DPT curriculum. The DCE will collaborate with clinical partners, faculty, and students to ensure excellence in clinical placements, foster strong community relationships, and promote high‑quality experiential learning experiences. This position also includes responsibilities in teaching, scholarship, and service to the program, college, and university.
Typical Duties/Job Duties
Provide leadership for all aspects of clinical education, including development, coordination, and assessment of clinical experiences.
Manage clinical site placements and maintain effective communication with clinical partners, students, and faculty.
Develop new clinical partnerships and strengthen existing relationships with clinical facilities to support program growth.
Engage in teaching within the DPT curriculum consistent with expertise, with preference for neuromuscular and/or orthopedic practice settings.
Participate in scholarly activities including research, publication, and professional presentations.
Serve on program, department, and college committees, and contribute to accreditation and program assessment processes.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated expertise and teaching background in neuromuscular and/or orthopedic practice settings.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to develop and sustain productive relationships with clinical partners and community stakeholders.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative learning environment.
Ability to integrate evidence‑based practice and contemporary teaching strategies into the curriculum.
Minimum Qualifications
Earned doctorate (PhD, EdD, ScD, DSc, DPT, or tDPT) required.
Eligibility for physical therapy licensure in the State of Texas is required.
Demonstrated understanding of clinical education structure, processes, and regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced clinical competency such as completion of a clinical fellowship or residency or ABPTS board certification.
Established record of academic or clinical teaching experience.
Prior experience in clinical coordination, clinical site management, or DCE/ACCE roles.
Record of scholarly productivity and professional service.
