Programs Assistant Summary
The Programs Assistant supports the smooth operation, growth, and quality of a wide range of JCC programs. This highly flexible role involves administrative, operational, and on-the-ground responsibilities that contribute to the success, safety, and positive experience of participants across multiple departments. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and comfortable shifting between tasks as program needs evolve. What You Will Do
Provide hands‑on support for the daily functioning of various programs, including but not exclusively to sports, arts, adult programming, and special events Assist with program setup, breakdown, materials preparation, and room organization Support instructors and programming leads by helping coordinate registration, payments, attendance, equipment, and participant needs Offer friendly, helpful customer service to parents, members, and participants Help maintain safe and supervised program environments Perform administrative duties such as tracking registrations, maintaining records, and managing communication Assist with scheduling, staffing updates, and logistical coordination as needed Contribute to problem‑solving and day‑of adjustments to ensure programs run smoothly Monitor program spaces for cleanliness, safety, and readiness Support special events and one‑time programs, including evening or weekend shifts when required Collaborate with the Programs Team to improve processes, enhance participant experience, and maintain high‑quality standards Who You Are
Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills Friendly, reliable, and flexible approach to daily tasks Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Comfortable interacting with children, parents, instructors, and community members Prior program support or customer service experience preferred Ability to occasionally lift/move program materials and equipment CPR/First Aid certification a plus (or willingness to obtain) Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to spend time sitting and using a computer. The employee may also be required to frequently be on their feet for periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The work environment may be fast paced and requires high energy and interaction with others. The workspace may be noisy, at times. Compensation and Benefits
Starting Rate: $15/hour Weekly Hours: 5-10 hours, with expected increase as programming develops Benefit & Perks: The JCC provides a complimentary membership and discounted program rates to employees who work at least once per week on a consistent, year‑round basis. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive, and incumbent will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by supervisor or other management, as required.
