GPLA, part of the DPR Family of Companies, is seeking an experienced Project Manager (PM) for our Steel Detailing team. The PM will play a key role in overseeing staff, managing and coordinating project pursuits through to successful execution. Working alongside the Technical Manager, this position is responsible for driving an up-to-date schedule, providing cost estimates, and staffing plans for projects.

Job Description The PM will be accountable for ensuring project milestones are met on time and within budget while maintaining clear communication across all stakeholders. The role requires a blend of technical knowledge, leadership skill, and strong organizational abilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities The ideal Project Manager is organized, well‑spoken, prepares weekly status reports, and participates in the interviewing process for new candidates. They collaborate with GPLA’s management team, contribute to financial reviews, and ensure effective communication between team members and stakeholders. Responsibilities include:

Maintain weekly staff planning to understand tasks and their level of completeness.

Participate in the interviewing process for new candidates as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

Work alongside the Senior Technical Manager to provide a cost, schedule, and staffing plan for project pursuits. The PM presents to the GPLA management team for review and submittal.

Plan, coordinate, and manage project submittals and schedules to align with overall project construction.

Participate in the end‑of‑month financial review of the budget and the overall project’s percent‑complete reporting.

Participate in daily check‑in with the corresponding GPLA manager to discuss any issues or concerns via Teams calls and notes. Follow‑ups for the production team are sent by the PM after the call.

Provide weekly status reports of active projects for the next four weeks, detailing work to be performed and staff assignments.

Work with the Senior Technical Manager and GPLA management to create and maintain detailing standards for vC and GPLA.

Help answer questions for project managers as they progress.

Coordinate Add Service Request (ASR) tracking with the Project Leader/Manager and verify with GPLA Management Staff.

Complete other tasks as assigned by leadership.

Required Skills and Abilities

Significant project management experience, ideally in structural engineering or related industries, with a track record of managing large and complex projects from initiation to completion.

Strong leadership, mentoring, conflict resolution, and collaborative work environment skills.

Strategic thinking, informed decision‑making, risk assessment, and proactive problem‑solving.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills for clients, stakeholders, senior executives, and team members.

Advanced budgeting, financial management, and cost‑control skills; experience managing contracts and subcontractors.

Deep understanding of risk‑management principles, risk identification, mitigation plans, and dealing with scope, schedule, and budget changes.

Quality control focus; ensure compliance with codes, standards, and specifications; conduct quality audits and implement control measures.

Client management; understand client needs, address concerns, foster long‑term partnerships; business development activities such as proposals, presentations, and opportunity identification.

Staying updated with industry regulations, building codes, and relevant standards; awareness of emerging technologies, best practices, and regulatory changes.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering required.

PMP, CCM or PMI‑ACP certifications preferred.

Prefabrication or Construction experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.

Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
