CMS Landscape Crew – CALTRANS Maintenance Supervisor $5,401.00 – $7,032.00 per Month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Job Description and Duties Under the general direction of a Caltrans Maintenance Area Superintendent, the Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor supervises and works with a crew of maintenance personnel responsible for the maintenance of planted areas bordering freeways and highways in the assigned area; also supervises Probationer litter and Transient Camp removal program. A valid, unrestricted Class C driver’s license is required while performing duties that involve maintaining the State Highway system; a valid, unrestricted Class A or B license is desirable for training crew members on commercial equipment. Incumbent may be required to work overtime including weekends, temporary and/or intermittent varied work shifts, and is expected to respond to emergency calls. The position may be loaned to another crew. This position is not represented under collective bargaining.

Working Conditions Position located at District 11/Maintenance Division/West Region, San Diego County. Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment. Most (90%) of work is done outdoors. Weather conditions vary from cold, windy and wet winters to hot and dry summers. The incumbent may be exposed to dirt, exhaust fumes, noise, uneven surfaces, heat and cold extremes, hot materials, chemicals, loud noises, steep and unstable terrain, fast‑moving traffic, irritating plants and wildlife. The incumbent must wear long pants and appropriate footwear in good condition and must wear the provided personal protective safety equipment including shirts or vests, hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, face shields, respirators, ear plugs, and other safety devices as necessary. The incumbent must travel extensively throughout the assigned area and may be required to travel and work in other areas of the District.

Minimum Requirements CALTRANS Maintenance Supervisor

Valid, unrestricted Class C driver’s license.

Valid, unrestricted Class A or B driver’s license desirable.

Possession of a valid driver’s license required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle.

Minimum educational requirement: equivalent to completion of the 12th grade.

Valid Class A or Class B commercial driver license with P, H, and N endorsements and qualified applicator certificate for pesticides issued by CAL‑EPA.
