Registered Nurse (RN) – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) – Travel Position (with $7,500 Completion Bonus)
Location: Phoenix, AZ Job Type: Travel Contract Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3x12 Nights Pay: $2,283.48 /week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts)
Job Summary: The NICU Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to critically ill or premature newborns requiring intensive monitoring and advanced medical interventions. This role involves working closely with neonatologists and the healthcare team to ensure optimal outcomes for vulnerable infants and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver comprehensive nursing care to neonates in Level II, III, or IV NICU settings.
Monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, and ventilator settings; interpret clinical changes promptly.
Administer medications, IV fluids, and nutrition according to physician orders.
Operate and troubleshoot specialized NICU equipment (ventilators, incubators, infusion pumps).
Perform neonatal resuscitation and emergency interventions when necessary.
Educate and support parents regarding infant care, feeding techniques, and discharge planning.
Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
Collaborate with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and other specialists to develop individualized care plans.
Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and hospital policies.
Qualifications:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing).
Licensure:
Current RN license in [State].
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Required
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Preferred
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of NICU experience preferred; new grads with strong clinical rotations may be considered.
Skills & Competencies:
Expertise in neonatal physiology and critical care.
Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations.
Compassionate communication with families during emotionally challenging times.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and lift moderate weight for extended periods.
Manual dexterity for operating NICU equipment and performing procedures.
