Essential Functions
Will assist in the facilitation of all private swim lessons, group lessons, YMCA camps, activities as well as all outside group classes for the Safety Around Water program.
Responsible for assigning and tracking private swim lessons.
Conducts regular/ frequent sanitation of all equipment (rescue and member used), and assigned areas as outlined by the employer and supervisor.
Must cover lessons when no instructor is available.
Engage students and parents of programming.
Must track participants of private lessons in Dakxo, ensuring payments are received.
Supervise programing to ensure all YMCA of the USA curriculum and safety ratios are followed.
Assist YMCA leadership with instructor placement for YMCA camps and outside group safety programs.
Assist YMCA leadership with instructor in-service trainings including but not limited to; keeping track of certifications, training new instructors, and keeping leadership updated on staffing needs.
Markets and promotes all aquatics programs in the community using multiple methods (print, digital, social media, etc.).
Attend community events as needed.
Assist with social media (Aquatics) updates, partnering with the Marketing department to ensure all social media policies and procedures are followed.
Supervise employees in assigned accountabilities, monitor site operation and scheduling.
Identify training needs and initiate development activities of supervisees.
Assure that new employees complete orientation and training according to established guidelines and provide on the job training as required.
Notify Director of staffing needs, assist in the interview process.
Keep employees informed as to association, branch, and department events.
Plans and works towards organizational goals.
Be actively and visibly involved with members, volunteers and staff in a positive, friendly manner that communicates and demonstrates the YMCA core values of caring, honest, respect and responsibility.
Follow all established policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety practices and personnel policies.
Participate in and support association events and fundraising activities.
Secure and maintain required trainings and/or certifications necessary for the position.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Responsible for following the child abuse and neglect reporting process including completion of Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services (696-Kids) and notifying your immediate Supervisor, Branch Executive, Risk Management and Human Resources Department(s). All employees of the YMCA of Greater Cleveland are mandated reporters for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect.
Qualifications Education High school diploma required; Associates degree preferred.
Experience
Minimum of one (1) year of related experience working in aquatic programing.
Minimum of one (1) year of aquatic instruction.
Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience preferred.
Certification(s) And Requirements
Current CPR/AED Pro, O2 Management, Current First Aid.
Current Y lifeguarding or American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Instructor Certification a plus.
Current Water Safety Instructor or YMCA Swim Instructor certification required.
Technical Skills And Knowledge
Must have proficient swimming skills and the ability to demonstrate freestyle, backstroke, breast stroke and butterfly, side stroke and elementary backstroke.

Demonstrate commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA and uphold its values and ethics.

Physical Demands
The ability to perform frequent amounts of sitting, standing, swimming, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, bending and/or instructing others for the duration of their shift.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
Able to work a flexible 27.5 hours a week schedule, times vary depending on program schedule and needs.
Work Environment
Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy.
Work environment may be slippery and wet often.
May be required to work outside and on occasion may encounter inclement weather.
