Responsibilities:

Plans, directs, and supervises lower‑level managers, supervisors, and offender workers engaged in industry operations or service‑type vocational enterprises.

Prepares budget proposals for assigned operations/enterprises; initiates procurement documents for raw materials and supplies; establishes stock levels and reorder points; maintains inventory; computes job costs including material quantities; prepares job/cost reports; and prepares shipping and billing documents.

Assigns and monitors job orders and work schedules; designates sections of the operation/enterprise responsible for specific tasks; ensures proper use and operation of equipment and materials; inspects work areas to maintain safe conditions; inspects work in progress for quality control and efficiency.

Administers a graded‑wage program for offender workers, including promotions, demotions, and performance evaluations; maintains time and payroll records; collaborates with classification/custody staff regarding offender work assignments.

Develops specifications for new equipment to meet industry operational/vocational enterprise requirements.

Consults with lower‑level managers or supervisors regarding special orders, production problems, schedules, and delivery dates; collaborates with customers and vendors on problems, product improvement, and new product development.

Inspects raw materials received for quality standards.

Exercises independence and initiative in performance; receives general administrative direction to ensure conformity with department policies and procedures; performs other related work as assigned.

Qualifications:

One or more years of experience as a Factory Service Manager I with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System.

OR two or more years of experience as a Correctional Industries Supervisor or Maintenance Supervisor with the Department of Corrections’ Missouri Vocational Enterprises program.

OR two or more years in a supervisory or management capacity in a manufacturing field and/or service‑type vocational enterprise (e.g., laundry, printing, binding, recycling, or closely related area), and/or overseeing the work of offenders in a production/service setting (excluding surveillance and security); AND possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

All requested documents must be received by the closing date listed. Contingent upon your position, you may also be eligible to receive:

$2.00 per hour shift differential for a shift beginning between 12:00 pm and 5:00 am at a 24/7 congregate care facility.

$0.75 per hour maximum security stipend for full‑time work at a qualifying facility.

$1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend for a regular post in a restrictive housing/segregation unit.
