We are seeking an experienced Fire Testing Lead Technician to oversee inspection teams performing Title 19 and NFPA 72 fire alarm testing throughout Los Angeles County. The Lead Technician will serve as the on-site authority for testing, documentation, customer communication, and compliance for commercial, industrial, and multi-story buildings.
Lead and perform Title 19, NFPA 72 annual, semi-annual, and quarterly fire alarm system inspections.
Test and verify operation of:
Smoke/heat detectors
Pull stations
Horns/strobes/speakers
Duct detectors
Waterflow & tamper switches (with sprinkler contractors)
Control panels, SLC/NAC circuits, and power supplies
Conduct testing for integrated systems such as elevators, HVAC shutdowns, fire pumps, and clean-agent systems.
Supervise a team of inspection technicians and helpers.
Train staff on testing procedures, documentation, safety, and system identification.
Ensure efficient daily workflow and accurate device counts.
Complete required California Title 19 State Fire Marshal forms.
Accurately document deficiencies and communicate needed repairs to clients and project managers.
Ensure all testing complies with NFPA 72, California Title 19, and local AHJ requirements
Coordinate onsite testing schedules with building engineers, facility managers, and security teams.
Provide clear explanations of inspection results and deficiency repairs.
Schedule
Hours will vary, must be able to work on-call, weekends, nights, split shifts, and rotating shifts (if needed).
Position Requirements
3+ years’ experience in fire life safety testing
Los Angeles Chief’s Regulation 4 Certificate of Fitness (in one or more categories)
High school diploma (or equivalent)
Valid California Driver License and proof of auto insurance.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Ability to drive for 2+ hours in a work shift/day, daily.
Ability to walk, bend, stoop, hear, and speak, daily.
Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, under all temperature variations.
Work environment may be construction sites, commercial buildings, and high-rise buildings,
Ascend/Descend and work at heights above 6ft and extreme heights, occasionally
Move/Transport/Install/Remove items weighing 20+ pounds, daily
Pushing/Pulling using upper extremities, daily
Position self to work in confined spaces, occasionally
