Ice Operations Supervisor
Rochester Institute of Technology is hiring an Ice Operations Supervisor to maintain a quality ice surface and supervise the student ice crew at the Gene Polisseni Center.
Job Summary Requires ability to work nights and weekends depending on athletics events scheduled. The role involves operating ice resurfacing equipment, preparing ice for all activities, and maintaining equipment and rink surfaces. During the off‑season, responsibilities shift to building maintenance tasks such as painting, buffing, and repairing facility areas.
Job Responsibilities
Operate the Zamboni and perform ice cuts for evening and weekend events, ensuring optimal ice conditions.
Supervise student rink staff during weekdays, evenings, weekends, and special events.
Facilitate daily ice rentals for RIT and non‑RIT users.
Assist with building maintenance during off‑season, including painting locker rooms, buffing acrylic shields, and performing other facility repairs.
Uphold RIT values by fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
Education / Experience
1–3 years of mechanical experience (automotive or general).
High school diploma or GED.
Demonstrated use of a Zamboni or similar ice resurfacer.
Pre‑employment Motor Vehicle check, meeting RIT Safe Driving Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional experience with ice maintenance or athletic facility operations.
Experience supervising student or volunteer staff.
Salary / Hourly Hourly rate: $16 – $27.
