The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking a Research Project Coordinator in Columbia University Department of Psychiatry's Division on Substance Use Disorders. This individual will work in the Opioid Laboratory on several ongoing and upcoming NIDA‑funded clinical trials focused on opioid use disorder and overdose. This individual must possess excellent organizational skills, exercise good judgment, and the ability to work without continuous supervision in a research setting with ongoing clinical trials. Must be well‑organized and have excellent interpersonal skills. Flexible work schedule and the ability to travel between research sites is needed. Must be meticulous in carrying out research protocols and enjoy working with human research participants. Must be familiar with various software programs (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Redcap, SPSS).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Participating in and completing research projects, including but not limited to protocol development
Coordination of IRB submissions
Leading project meetings
Managing study oversight and project documentation
Contributing to the development of data collection tools and statistical analysis plans
Providing support as needed for scientific issues that may arise during study execution
Training and supervision of research assistants
Working closely with biostatisticians to plan analyses of clinical data
Presenting and publishing findings in high impact journals
Evening and weekend work may be required occasionally
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in an area relevant to medical science and mental health
At least (3) years of experience in conducting preclinical studies of opioid effects
(1-3) years of relevant experience working on large federal‑grant or industry‑sponsored studies
