As an Estimator, you will be an essential team member responsible for leading the delivery of preconstruction and estimating services for construction projects. Under the supervision of the Director of Preconstruction & Estimating, you will prepare budgets, estimates, pre-bid packages, and various construction documents required for each project. Your role will span all stages of the preconstruction/estimating phases—from conceptual design to final bidding. You will collaborate closely with team members to ensure the accuracy of estimates and budgets, ensuring the successful delivery of projects.

What you will be doing:
Leads the estimates on assigned projects with timely-roll-out and execution of entire estimate deliverable process.
Conduct initial analysis of drawings and specifications to ensure required documentation is present to determine scope of work.
Develop full-scope detailed estimates and quantity take-offs based on conceptual, schematic, bid-build, design-build, design development or construction documents.
Provide direction to project team with regards to means and methods, schedule, budget, and strategy.
Assemble pre-bid packages and attend project site pre-bid meetings, site tours, and post-bid interviews with architects, clients, subcontractors etc., as required.
Utilize company’s technologies to ensure most efficient estimating and pre-construction process while also aiming to maintain data throughout pre-construction project cycle.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, during the preconstruction phase and beyond through excellent customer service and creative problem solving.
Solicit and analyze qualified subcontractors and vendors proposals, ensuring adequate coverage and scope understanding for the pricing in all trades.
Manage and maintain subcontractor database and record cost history of proposals.
Prepare and participate in bid proposals with care given to comparison to previous bid proposals/versions of pricing shared with client and thoughtful/clear presentation for client’s receipt and review.
Review documents for completeness, identify discrepancies in construction documents or potential scope gaps and seek clarifications from designers.
Serve as a resource in project transition to the Project Operations team to ensure smooth transition and best success of project.
What you will need to succeed:
Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural degree, or equivalent experience
Must have math skills; multiplication, division, percentages, fractions, conversion of units of measure
Computer Skills; web navigation, document scanning, typing, Microsoft Office, and estimating software competency
Effective and professional communication skills, verbal and written
Detail orientated ability to multitask and have flexibility
Problem-solving ability
Strong sense of Urgency
Time management skills prioritize responsibilities. Work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to handle stressful situations such as heavy/varying workload and order accuracy
Bias towards action and impatience towards those that lack focus and/or the ability to get results.
