Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician to support the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of construction and industrial equipment. This role may be based in a shop environment, in the field, or a combination of both, depending on operational needs. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, a diagnostic mindset, and hands‑on experience working with heavy equipment systems.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine issues on heavy equipment
Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and scheduled service
Repair and replace components including engines, pumps, valves, hoses, and electrical systems
Troubleshoot equipment failures using diagnostic tools and service documentation
Perform shop-based repairs and/or respond to field service calls as required
Maintain accurate service records and communicate repair status clearly
Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment
Work independently while coordinating with service managers and team members
Required Experience and Qualifications
Prior experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician, Diesel Technician, or similar role
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
Proven diagnostic and troubleshooting ability
Experience working on construction or industrial equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, skid steers, or similar machinery
Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic information
Valid driver’s license; ability to operate equipment safely
Preferred Qualifications
Rental fleet, construction, or industrial equipment background
Field service experience
Manufacturer certifications or formal technical training
Work Environment
May include shop-based work, outdoor job sites, or field service routes
Physical requirements include lifting, bending, standing, and working around heavy machinery
