The Department Assistant performs a variety of clerical and secretarial duties in support of the department.
This position will be responsible for managing the schedules of approximately 20 Providers in General Gastroenterology, with the goal of eliminating gaps/holes in their schedules. You will assist with scheduling follow up appointments, moving appointments around to accommodate new patient appointments, schedule hospital follow-up appointments, and act as the primary point of contact for urgent scheduling requests by the Providers.
Other duties can include, but are not limited to: collaborating with other Department Assistants, assisting with billing by reviewing the prior day's encounters to ensure all charges were entered, managing the mailroom (sorting and distributing mail), and helping to manage the incoming faxes, ensuring they are filed appropriately.**Pay Range**Minimum $23.08 Midpoint $30.59 Maximum $38.09*Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.***Experience**• Required: Minimum one (1) year of clerical/administrative experience supporting a department.• Preferred: Three (3) or more years of clerical/administrative experience supporting a department.**Education**• Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent. Experience may be considered in lieu of education.• Preferred: Business-related college courses.**Training**• Required: None required.**Specialized Skills**• Required: Intermediate skills in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, well organized, detail oriented, and able to appropriately prioritize. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Effective verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal relationship and collaboration skills.
