As a
Wastewater Lab Technician , you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services – uninterrupted. Based in
Jackson, MS
you'll perform analytical procedures used in the testing of samples pertaining to water and/or wastewater, treatment plant effluent and various surface waters to include sample preparation, sampling, and analysis of compliance and process control samples. In this role, you’ll operate, maintain, and calibrate instruments and equipment for laboratory analyses and must apply advanced knowledge of the principles and practices of chemistry, biology, microbiology, and mathematics required in an analytical laboratory; use standard laboratory practices and QA/QC procedures and help maintain laboratory accreditation. In addition, you’ll provide technical assistance to other areas of the lab as well and contribute to the process control function of the treatment facility.
Principal Areas of Responsibility
The Lab Technician will perform chemical, bacteriological and physical laboratory tests for the water recycling facility. This includes preparation of analytical standard solutions and reagents utilized for analyses.
Continually review and scrutinize standardized procedures and methods used in analyses.
Will operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation as needed.
The Lab Technician may be assigned to special projects that may require coordination with other departments.
Participates in shared responsibilities to maintain laboratory programs including quality assurance, safety, and training.
Related duties include periodic training of operations personnel on field equipment, analytical techniques and quality control procedures.

Here’s what you’ll need
Minimum one (1) year experience in an analytical or environmental laboratory performing physical, chemical and biological analyses required.
Valid Driver’s License with no major infractions.
Must be familiar with EPA and Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater methods.
Must understand and follow the quality control requirements of the regulatory agencies in Mississippi.
Ability to scrutinize analytical data at a higher level and make sound decisions regarding proper laboratory operation; able to clearly present information and data both orally and in reports.
Must be able to make chemical solutions, perform standard chemical calculations, and perform routine mathematical and statistical calculations.
Must be familiar with Windows operating systems, have knowledge of the MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access), and a Laboratory Management Information System (LIMS).
Ability to work effectively in a team-based organization required; work effectively with others in solving problems; willing to accept suggestions from team members, and offer expertise as needed.
Ideally, You’ll Also Have
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Associate’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related field from an accredited university or college.
Must have advanced knowledge of laboratory tasks, techniques, equipment, and terminology used in environmental laboratories. Working knowledge of the basic principles and practices of chemical, physical and microbiological analysis of water and wastewater.
Knowledge of the operation of advanced laboratory equipment is required. General knowledge and principles of advanced analytical instrumentation such as IC, TOC analyzer, ICP etc.
Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills, including listening skills.
