As the primary point of contact for the yard equipment for the division, the Yard Clerk is responsible for ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, and tracking SPI’s yard equipment, materials, and supplies using Lucity or the current Computer Maintenance Management System software. They are responsible for entering road maintenance requests into the County’s asset management system and routing non‑maintenance inquiries to the appropriate divisions or external agencies. Yard Clerks serve as a key customer service liaison between road yard foremen, first responders, the public, internal teams, and various road, government, and highway agencies.
Additional Responsibilities Will Include
Dispatching high‑priority road maintenance requests to Foremen
Managing road litter‑pickup requests and preparing assignments for contracted litter‑collection crews
Preparing assignments for contracted litter‑collection crews, and assisting with various road yard operations
Coordinating materials for the Adopt‑A‑Road program
Daily data entry of completed work orders and projects
Reviewing and auditing Daily Foreman Reports
Skills The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator that is dependable, can remain calm in high‑stress situations, and has strong organizational skills. They will also possess many of the following:
A general understanding of Geographic Information System (GIS) and mapping applications, construction equipment and a general awareness of the cities and roadways in Sonoma County
Experience working as a telephone or dispatch operator within a public works, utility, or construction environment
Experience in a fast‑paced environment, working on multiple projects at the same time
Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Office Suite, and Adobe Acrobat, with a general understanding of database software

Minimum Qualifications Experience:
Any combination of training and experience which would provide an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed. Normally, two years of practical work experience in an office environment, including some experience ordering, receiving, recording, and issuing supplies, would provide such opportunity.
Education:
The ability to read and write English and perform mathematical calculations at a level for successful job performance is required.
License:
Possession of a valid driver’s license at the appropriate level including necessary special endorsements, as required by the State of California to perform the essential job functions of the position.
