Description
We are looking for a companionate and team-oriented Shelter Services Coordinator to join our Residential Services team. The Shelter Services Coordinator provides crisis intervention via telephone and text including assessment, safety planning, and information and referral services; supervises the Shelter Services Specialist team; and attends to day to day operational and resident needs of the agency emergency shelter. The Shelter Services Coordinator provides on-call coverage and backup onsite coverage as needed including evenings and weekends.

Shelter Services Specialists and Assigned Volunteers and Interns Main Position Activities
Supervise Shelter Services Specialist team including scheduling, training, and staff management
Provide screening for needs and intake services for victims of relationship violence and sexual assault requesting safe shelter
Assist victims with developing safety plans for sexual and relationship violence
Arrange or provide transportation for eligible clients to the shelter, emergency medical facilities, community resources, and other shelters as appropriate
Dispatch Survivor Advocates to Denton County Hospitals for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault
Provide advocacy/accompaniment/assistance for medical care or criminal justice system interactions for sexual assault victims
Provide callers with appropriate community resource referrals
Provide callers with information regarding protective orders, crime victim’s compensation, Child Protective services, and all DCFOF agency services
Assist in ongoing cleaning, maintenance and operations of shelter facility
Assist in supervision of household responsibilities and maintaining supplies
Document activities properly as directed by Director of Residential and Crisis Services and outlined in the Service Guide
Create weekly schedule to provide for around the clock emergency shelter and crisis hotline coverage
Provide on-call support for shelter and crisis hotline
Manage resident needs and crisis situations
Participate in DCFOF staff and education meetings as requested

Requirements Prerequisites
High School Diploma or GED
Two years of experience in crisis intervention and/or domestic violence hotline or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Strong written and oral communication skills
Proficiency in Office applications such as Word and Excel
Must be at least 23 years old
Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Preferences
Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred
Some College with a social science or related background
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 25 lbs.
Ability to easily climb stairs
Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
