This role will be performed at Naval Surface Warfare Center, upon award of contract. The Electronics Specialist provides high-level troubleshooting and technical support for marine electronic and electrical systems, including navigation, communication, power distribution, instrumentation, and control systems. Performs testing, installation, calibration, and repairs to ensure operational reliability of vessels and waterfront facilities. Documents maintenance actions, interprets schematics, and ensures systems comply with applicable technical manuals and safety standards. Supports integration of new systems and assists with technical inspections. Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on marine mechanical systems. Install, troubleshoot, and service propulsion, hydraulic, HVAC, and auxiliary systems. Conduct system inspections, preventive maintenance checks, and technical evaluations. Document maintenance activities and update technical records. Provide technical expertise during vessel readiness assessments. Support engineering investigations, modifications, and upgrades. Mentor junior mechanical technicians and support team training. Additional job duties as assigned. Requirements & Qualifications:
Associate’s degree or equivalent trade certification in Electrical Marine Technology or a related field, or high school diploma or GED equivalent with recognized certification, such as ABYC Marine Electrical Certification, ABYC Advanced Marine Electrical Certification, or certification from IEEE or NMMA. A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in marine electronics and small watercraft systems, including testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and electronic systems; leading a team of electronics or electrical technicians; operating small watercraft at high speeds and in rough-water conditions; and using technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams to assist in repairs and identify parts for purchase. Merchant Mariner’s Credential; must maintain and possess. Able Seaman endorsement preferred. Strong knowledge of marine electronics, electrical systems, and instrumentation Ability to interpret schematics, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software for documentation and reporting. Effective leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Authorized to work in the United States. Ability to pass and maintain a drug and alcohol test in accordance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance. The RESPECT
