From designing resilient highways and iconic bridges to advancing transit, passenger and freight rail, aviation, federal transportation ports and marine infrastructure, your work will directly support economic vitality, public safety, sustainable and resilient communities and quality of life.
Senior Highway/Roads Engineer
Serve in the lead technical role in the detailed development of urban roadway design projects
Perform quality assurance checks on major transportation projects on interstate and state highway systems
Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization that resolves problems of greater scope and complexity
Assume some project management duties and interact with clients as needed
Supervise work of medium to large staff of professionals and technicians as needed
Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
12+ years' experience in highway design
PE in West Virginia
Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout
Demonstrated hands-on experience using Open Roads Designer (ORD), LDD, or other CAD design software
Proven hands-on experience in all aspects of Highway/Roadway design projects with a focus on WVDOT projects
MS Office knowledge
Local candidates preferred
Required Qualifications
A minimum of 10 years experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design
Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
Demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills and ability to work with various teams
Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans
Must have coordinated survey, grading, drainage and utilities and layout of various site items is a plus
