R-94861Murrey’s Disposal, a Waste Connections company, is seeking an experienced and safety-focused **Lead Diesel Mechanic** to join our team in Fife, WA. This position is ideal for a highly skilled technician with leadership experience who can provide direction, delegate tasks, and support a team while maintaining a modern fleet of heavy-duty trucks and equipment.This role offers competitive pay, a lead premium, swing-shift differential, and excellent benefits in a stable, growth-oriented company.**Compensation and Benefits*** Hourly Rate: $38.50 – $41.00/hour (includes $1.50 swing shift differential and $1.00 lead premium). This position offers a $5,000 stay-on bonus for qualified candidates.* Benefits include:

+ Additional compensation: overtime pay, tool allowance, and employee recognition programs**Schedule and Overtime*** Shift: Monday – Friday, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM* Overtime: Average 8–10 hours/week; paid at 1.5×**Key Responsibilities*** Provide leadership and guidance to mechanics, ensuring work is completed efficiently and safely* Develop strong working relationships with team members* Enforce all shop procedures, including Lockout/Tagout compliance* Assure daily re-torques are completed* Delegate work to mechanics, including VCRs, projects, down-truck repairs, deferred work orders, and pending parts* Ensure all teammates take scheduled breaks and lunches* Assist and mentor teammates to support skill development* Serve as the primary contact for drivers regarding truck issues and defects* Communicate work completed and trucks downed from the night shift; tie in with the day shift* Complete Quality Control Inspections (QCI) and mechanic observations* Secure facilities at the end of the day* Order parts and issue purchase orders; review PO Log Flash daily* Assist in repairs when necessary* Perform advanced preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel trucks and heavy equipment* Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems* Utilize diagnostic tools and software (Cummins Insite, Davie-4, Allison DOC)* Conduct DOT and OSHA-compliant safety inspections* Execute MIG welding and basic fabrication tasks* Test drive vehicles to confirm repair quality and performance* Record repairs, parts, and hours using fleet maintenance software* Review and act on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment**Required Qualifications*** Minimum of 3 years of heavy truck/diesel mechanic experience* Leadership experience with the ability to delegate and coach team members* Intermediate proficiency with diagnostic tools and software* Valid Driver’s License; Class B CDL preferred (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)* Welding experience (MIG) preferred* Solid understanding of DOT, OSHA, and vehicle safety standards* Ability to read and apply service and technical documentation* Must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment* Own basic mechanic tool set* Safety-sensitive positionAt Murrey's Disposal, we prioritize a strong safety culture, ensuring all employees work in a secure environment and adhere to our procedures.
