TITLE : School Nurse Substitute
Qualifications
Current registration to practice professional nursing in Massachusetts
CPR with AED certified by AHA or ARC
Reports To Director of School Health Services
$150 per diem, non-benefits eligible, at-will position.
Responsibilities
Accepts varying location assignments to support health services throughout school district
Assesses and evaluates students' health status
Provides primary and emergency health care
Administers medication in accordance with school policy and procedures
Provides relevant teaching, counseling, and guidance to assist students and parents in assuming responsibility for appropriate health care
Identifies students with special health care needs which affect learning
Interprets student health needs to teachers and other school personnel
Enters medical date into electronic health records on all students
Assists screening programs for vision, hearing, growth and SBIRT, to include follow-up retests
Confirms student eligibility for sports
Assists in the prevention and control of communicable diseases
Participates in the modification of the school program to meet the needs of children with disabilities and medical conditions
Develops Individual Health Care Plans, Anaphylaxis Emergency Care Plans, Asthma Health Care Plans, and 504 plans as needed
May serve on Child Protection Team and acts as an advocate and consultant for children suspected of being abused or neglected
Maintains continuing education requirements for recertification by BORN
