Concrete Finisher III (Advanced) Position Overview Serves as lead worker in the preparation for construction, maintenance, and repair of concrete projects. Performs a variety of the most difficult, complex, and precise concrete duties to provide a pleasing appearance and a sound structure. Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, walks, sidewalks, roads, or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools. Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters; patch voids; and use saws to cut expansion joints.

Essential Functions Of The Job

Sets and aligns the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth. Ensures that forms are set in accordance with established grade stakes installing necessary stay braces, utilizing various types of wall ties and spreaders.

Spreads, levels, and smooth the concrete; uses a come along, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float.

Produce rough concrete surface, using broom.

Applies hardening and sealing compounds to cure surface of concrete, and waterproof or restore surface.

Installing of expansion materials in joints by placing foam, boards, rod, and caulking. Use of cutting machine to cut contraction joints according to drawings. Use of dowel drill machine in PCC Projects.

Installing of structural reinforcement and epoxy in elements such as dowels, tie bars and wire mesh. Sets according to standards and measures.

Analytical observation on the concrete surfaces to determine if it is rough or uneven, make corrections if apply.

Assists in training Concrete Finisher I and II in the proper methods and techniques for concrete finishing and safe operation of equipment in accordance with worksite safety requirements.

Signals Concrete truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete and move chute to direct concrete on forms.

Coordinate the casting of the concrete.

Perform Masonry work to build walls, and brick drainage structures.

Monitors how the wind, heat, or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process.

Interprets and transfers information from surveyor stakes, follow sheets and engineering plans to grade stakes that workers can follow for setting of forms. Sets lines and grades using surveying instruments, string line level, eye level and checks accuracy of established grades on forms before concrete is poured.

Assures that concrete has proper slump and consistency during pouring operations.

Equipment operation of skid steer and multiple gas-powered machines such as skid Steer, loader, walk behind saw machine, dowel drill machine and crew trucks.

Other duties as assigned.

General Tasks

Maintain a clean job site to eliminate potential hazards. Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.

Requirements

Occasional travel overnight – travel may be required based on operational needs.

Valid Driver license and Clear MVR record if needed to drive.

Applicants must be capable of lifting 70 pounds or more.
