Position Summary The I&C Engineer will provide technical leadership and hands‑on engineering support for the qualification, testing, and dedication of safety‑related instrumentation and control components for nuclear applications. This position is responsible for developing and executing Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) and equipment qualification test plans to ensure compliance with nuclear regulatory and industry standards. The successful candidate will apply strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to verify equipment performance under seismic, environmental, and operational conditions relevant to nuclear facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and execute Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) and Equipment Qualification (EQ) test plans in accordance with EPRI NP-5652, IEEE 323, and IEEE 344 standards.

Perform functional, seismic, and environmental qualification testing of nuclear safety‑related instrumentation and control components.

Design, fabricate, and implement custom test setups to meet qualification and CGD testing requirements.

Conduct failure analysis and root cause evaluations of electrical and I&C components and document corrective recommendations.

Lead or support seismic qualification testing utilizing triaxial seismic test systems.

Execute environmental qualification tests, including thermal aging, humidity, radiation, vibration, and electrical overstress conditions.

Coordinate and witness special inspections or third‑party testing performed by internal departments or external laboratories.

Analyze test data, interpret results, and prepare comprehensive technical reports detailing compliance, performance, and qualification outcomes.

Ensure all testing activities adhere to NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, and applicable ASME/IEEE standards.

Support procurement engineering and quality assurance functions in CGD activities.

Participate in design reviews, readiness assessments, and audits related to nuclear testing and qualification programs.

Perform other engineering duties as assigned to support nuclear safety‑related testing programs.

Requirements Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear, or related Engineering discipline required.

3 years of experience in I&C system design, testing, or qualification within the nuclear industry (commercial, DOE, or supplier).

Proven understanding of Commercial Grade Dedication (EPRI NP-5652) and Equipment Qualification processes.

Experience in nuclear safety‑related component testing, including seismic and environmental qualification.

Technical Skills

Strong ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system drawings.

Proficiency in using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, Hi‑Pot testers, DMMs, variable power supplies, and calibration instruments.

Skilled in data acquisition, signal analysis, and test instrumentation configuration.

Familiarity with IEEE 323, IEEE 344, RCC‑E, and related nuclear qualification standards.

Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with test data management systems preferred.

Working knowledge of materials analysis tools (OES, XRF, FTIR) considered a plus.
