Location: Arlington, VA. Salary Range: $84,897 - $127,345 USD.

Overview of opportunity Two Six Technologies is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to drive the design and development of custom electronic systems that support critical cybersecurity and national security missions. In this role, you will take ownership of mechanical design efforts, engage deeply with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute across the full product development lifecycle—from requirements and modeling to prototyping, testing, and production readiness. This position is ideal for engineers with a solid mechanical engineering foundation who are ready to step into greater technical responsibility and autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

Contribute to mechanical design activities for custom electronic hardware, including 3D CAD modeling, detailed drawings, and BOM development.

Define, interpret, and manage mechanical requirements and interfaces for PCBs, enclosures, and integrated electronic assemblies.

Drive prototyping, mechanical validation, and iterative design improvements using appropriate testing methods and tools.

Collaborate with electrical, manufacturing, and program teams, and interface with vendors to support fabrication, procurement, and production.

Perform thermal, structural, and tolerance analyses to ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and environmental requirements.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

3+ years of mechanical engineering experience in product development or hardware-focused environments.

Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred).

Working knowledge of mechanical fabrication methods (e.g., machining, sheet metal, injection molding) and DFx principles.

Experience with thermal and/or structural analysis concepts and tools.

Experience with 3D printing for rapid prototyping.

Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced environment.

Ability to work on-site at our Arlington, VA headquarters.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T and ASME Y14.100 drawing standards.

Familiarity with environmental testing standards (e.g., MIL-STD-810).

Experience with additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping.

Exposure to security certification processes such as FIPS 140-3.

Exposure to EMI/EMC testing processes such as FCC Part 15.

Active Top Secret clearance preferred (not required).

Security Clearance

Must be eligible and willing to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
