Job Title
SOCIAL WORKER (MSW) – PRN (River Vista Behavioral Health, Madera, California)
About the Facility River Vista Behavioral Health is a brand‑new 128‑bed facility located along the bluffs overlooking the San Joaquin River. The hospital will provide high‑quality behavioral health services to residents and visitors in the Central Valley and employ more than 250 people, including clinicians, nurses, mental health technicians, support staff and administration.
Compensation Hourly rate: USD $37.00 – $47.00 per hour (PRN).
Responsibilities
Perform a full biopsychosocial assessment and develop individualized treatment plans.
Provide brief consultations for patients and families preparing for discharge; develop safe discharge plans with referrals for continued treatment and housing when appropriate.
Offer therapeutic group‑based interventions and crisis interventions, assisting patients to achieve optimal emotional health.
Conduct therapeutic interventions and maintain confidentiality in compliance with professional ethics.
Respond to requests for social work services in a timely manner and serve as a role model for healthy communication.
Participate in Performance Improvement projects, professional development, and orientation of new colleagues.
Represent the facility at legal hearings, submit legal holds, and liaise with the conservator’s office.

Demonstrate a professional attitude supporting business development, marketing, and guest relations.
Maintain appropriate therapeutic boundaries and consistently follow established procedures.
Ensure patient rights are upheld, maintain confidentiality, and identify improvement opportunities.
Assist with orientation of new colleagues and student interns; comply with medical/legal reporting situations.
Additional Patient Standards
Provide specific standards for child (5‑11 years), adolescent (12‑18 years), adult (19‑64 years), and geriatric (65+ years) patients.
Develop interventions and therapeutic decisions appropriate to developmental stages and medical conditions.
Implement safe restraints, seclusion, and de‑escalation techniques following facility protocols.
Maintain knowledge of program rules, procedures and handbooks; seek guidance from nursing leadership when needed.
Education & Experience
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related discipline.
Registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
Minimum one (1) year experience in a psychiatric health care facility, including family and group therapies, crisis intervention, and treatment skills.
CPR certification and completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of crisis intervention procedures, individual and group therapy techniques, and treatment planning.
Strong clinical assessment, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in the Joint Commission, HCFA, OSHA regulations, and patient rights standards.
Ability to work in a team, adhere to safety policies, and perform under emergency conditions.
Additional Requirements Strong knowledge of The Joint Commission, HCFA, OSHA regulations, and patient rights standards. Familiarity with state and federal mental health care laws.
