Pickle Robot is looking for a hands‑on Robotics Technician to join our prototyping team and support the development of our next‑generation robotic systems. This role is the electrical counterpart to our mechanical prototyping technician and will play a key role in wiring, system integration, cable harnessing, PCB rework, and component selection for both prototype and early production builds.

You’ll work directly with engineering and manufacturing teams to build, troubleshoot, and refine the electrical systems of robotic platforms—from connector selection to full system wiring—ensuring functional, scalable, and serviceable builds. This position is highly hands‑on and suited for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, iterative hardware development environment.

Responsibilities

Build, route, and install complex cable harnesses, connectors, and wiring assemblies for robotic systems

Perform PCB soldering/rework, crimping, and terminations (through‑hole and surface mount)

Support prototype robot builds, test setups, electrical configuration updates, and system integration

Recommend and source electrical components and connectors for proto and production builds

Collaborate with engineers to power up, debug, and validate electrical sub‑systems

Maintain and document electrical build processes, test logs, schematics, and change records for repeatability and traceability.

Participate in design reviews, failure analysis, and risk assessments from a hands‑on perspective

Provide real‑time feedback to improve cable routing, board layout, or electrical subsystem design

Occasionally travel to assist with robot deployments, retrofits, or troubleshooting in the field

Coordinate with Supply Chain and Engineering to track and manage long‑lead electrical parts and BOMs

Contribute weekly updates on electrical build status, resource needs, risks, and upcoming work

Skills & Experience

5+ years of hands‑on experience in electrical assembly, prototype wiring, or robotic system integration

Strong knowledge of electrical connectors, cable harness design, and low‑voltage wiring best practices

Proficient with hand tools for wire crimping, stripping, soldering, and routing

Experienced in PCB soldering/rework (IPC‑A‑610/620 certification is a plus)

Comfortable reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and following build documentation

Familiar with basic electrical safety and ESD protocols

Able to work independently and manage shifting priorities in a dynamic hardware environment

Experience working with or building test setups for robotics, mechatronics, or automation systems.

Bonus: Experience with 3D CAD (e.g., Onshape/SolidWorks) for component layout or harness planning

Able to perform hands‑on tasks involving repetitive motion, crouching, reaching, and standing for extended periods

Comfortable with a role that involves standing and moving throughout a warehouse environment for most of the workday

Willing and able to work on‑site role at our Charlestown, MA facility five days per week
