The Emma L. Bowen Community Service Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team. This position is a terrific opportunity for someone to gain additional experience and make a difference in the lives of our clients. For over 45 forty‑five years, our organization has provided mental health and holistic services in northern Manhattan for families, children, adolescents, and other adults including the elderly in a supportive and caring environment. We also have an out‑patient and residential substance abuse program as well as a Therapeutic Preschool for 3‑5 year olds.

Perform the registration and processing of all patients entering the facility for care
Responsible for taking and recording patients' vital signs during the triage function
Perform laboratory specimen collection as ordered by the medical provider
Schedules patients for annual physicals, semi annuals and lab recalls
Sets appointments for referrals and follow‑up calls when necessary
Obtain results for the Laboratory Information System and submit the results with the patient's chart to the appropriate parties
Ensure that proper billing is conducted or applied to abnormal laboratory, referrals, or diagnostic results
Direct all incoming telephone calls to appropriate parties and take messages when necessary
Oversees psychiatrist and NP scheduling
Make reminder phone calls to all clients on provider's schedule
Ensures all prescribers notes are in
Escorts patients to the Doctor, Nurse Practitioner and Primary Care
Ensures the collection of urine specimens for drug screenings
Perform the registration and processing of all patients entering the facility for care
Enters patient information into the computer. Updates as necessary
Assist with all clerical functions when necessary
Maintaining and securing patient's medical records
Retrieves medical records for medical department
Files completed lab work in medical records
Maintains a safe environment for patients
Monitor waiting area and patient flow
Ensure that all necessary forms are completed and signed by a medical provider and patient prior to patient release
Following the doctor's orders and treatment plans
Collaborating with other medical professionals
Administering medications and monitoring responses to medication, inclusive of Administering Injectables : Psychotropic Long Acting Injectables and Medication Assisted Treatment.
Completing Health Assessments and documenting the same
Documentation of Nursing Notes.
Conducting screenings and evaluations and monitoring patients
Educating patients and family members
Completing Prior Authorization.
Communicating with other care team members
Documenting all treatments, medications, and other patient care aspects in medical records
Responding to emergency psychiatric situations
Provides in‑service Nursing Training as supertrainer as may be deemed appropriate for facility certification.
Performs other related duties to meet clinic needs and requirements
Requirements
Must have a New York State RN Licensure Must be a graduate from an approved accredited school One (1) year experience Psychiatric RN experience CPR certification Naloxone New York TOD Certification of Completion (Preferred) Salary Description
