Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Director of Behavioral Health provides administrative direction and coordination of behavioral health services, staff, and providers. The Director develops and implements strategic plans to grow, maintain, and structure behavioral health services, and collaborates in integrated care with other medical team members to strengthen the overall health and wellness of patients.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and implement programs focused on mental and behavioral health services to meet the needs of prospective and existing patients.
Provide input and support for program service philosophy, including knowledge of trends within the service area, to further enhance program offerings.
Collaborate with Medical Director, department leaders and directors, providers, and executives for program planning and coordination, process improvement, and strategic planning and goal setting in relation to behavioral health services and integrated care.
Facilitate behavioral health meetings, collaborate with PCPs and PMHPs to discuss program policies/procedures, coordinate services, provider education, and patient cases.
Participate in the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) team meetings.
Develop and monitor processes to meet and exceed the established department goals and target quality metrics.
Work closely with CFO and Finance Department to review, implement, and monitor program budget through authorizing expenditures, monitoring trends, ensuring compliance with funding source guidelines, and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements of funding sources.
Work closely with Human Resources during recruitment process, candidate selection, onboarding, and training.
Develop strategic plans for behavioral health staff development and actively engage and coach staff through performance management.
Communicate with outreach team and participate in agency community outreach events, including events specific to integrated care, mental health, behavioral health, whole‐health wellness, and other focal points relevant to mental and behavioral health services.
Present to agencies, professional organizations, and community members on topics related to behavioral and mental health awareness, services offered, benefits of integrated care, and mental wellness.
This position may include provision of services and interaction with patients within scope of practice.
Education and Experience
Requires a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Psychologist, M.D., or D.O. with experience in psychiatry.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Psychologist must have and maintain a current license from the State of Michigan.
M.D. or D.O. must have and maintain a current Controlled Substances Registration Certificate from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
M.D. or D.O. must have and maintain a current physician license and controlled substance license from the State of Michigan.

Person‑centered planning training
Behavior management and crisis management training
Certificates and Licenses
LMSW, LPC, APNP, or PA strongly preferred; ideal candidate will have the ability to provide services relevant to behavioral health.
Substance abuse certification preferred.
Valid driver’s license
