The Career Development Specialist (CDS) for the JSOM Career Management Center (CMC) plays a vital role in preparing undergraduate students for career success. This position provides personalized coaching in résumé development, networking, LinkedIn optimization, cover letter writing, mock interviews, and internship search strategies.
The CDS will meet with students individually, lead professional development workshops, conduct classroom presentations, and collaborate with undergraduate programs and concentrations to ensure students are career-ready.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Undergraduate Professional Development, the CDS will work closely with the Assistant Dean, Corporate Relations Team, and other Career Development Specialists to deliver comprehensive career support. As an active member of the CMC team, this role will also assist with student engagement initiatives, employer events, and other center activities as needed.

Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree. Three to five years in corporate/business experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
MBA or master’s degree in a business-related discipline.
Two or more years of experience in campus recruiting and/or corporate or business environments.
Familiarity with applicant tracking systems and emerging AI job search tools (e.g., ChatGPT).
Experience or strong interest in using social media platforms such as Canva, Instagram, LinkedIn, and blogs for professional engagement and communication.
Other Qualifications To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Utilize corporate and professional expertise in recruiting, hiring cycles, and timelines to provide career coaching services to undergraduate and graduate students.
Offer individual and group career counseling focused on internships, networking strategies, and professional readiness.
Work closely with undergraduate professional development classes and their students to support career growth and preparedness.
Collaborate with Professional Programs such as DMHP, PPA, PPF, PPM, PPIT, and other specialized honors programs.
Partner with select JSOM academic degree programs to develop targeted professional development materials, services, and workshops (e.g., programs for transfer students and Veterans).
Collaborate with the JSOM CMC Corporate Relations Team on events and initiatives to develop full-time and internship opportunities for students.
Coordinate employer-led events and workshops designed to educate students about various career paths and internship or job opportunities.
Create weekly digital content and promotional materials (e.g., flyers in Canva) for the CMC website and social media platforms to promote employer events and professional development opportunities.
Maintain accurate metrics and reports for student appointments, workshops, classroom visits, and other events.
Develop and maintain programs to collect and analyze internship data for freshmen and sophomores.
