Phlebotomist – Part Time (Float)
LabTech Diagnostics is hiring a Part‑Time Phlebotomist (Float) in Lake Jackson, TX. The position offers a pay range of $16 to $20 per hour and involves working onsite at multiple locations, providing coverage and enhanced patient care.
Essential Functions
Provide coverage at multiple locations.
Work flexible hours and engage courteously with patients.
Demonstrate strong communication skills when instructing patients on special collections.
Follow HIPAA guidelines for confidentiality and Universal Precautions.
Complete assignments in a timely manner.
Maintain a professional attitude and personal appearance.
Utilize safety equipment (gloves, masks, etc.) and be familiar with Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Communications, and Laboratory Safety Manuals.
Review the Phlebotomy Manual annually.
Follow the procedure for specimen collection: venipuncture, capillary sticks (with heel‑warmers), urinalysis, throat cultures & strep, glucose tolerances, and first aid.
Know how to handle patients with adverse reactions to venipuncture.
Perform computer data entry with accuracy (Life Points) and play a receptionist role when necessary.
Use two identifiers before collecting patient specimens and assure safety through proper labeling.
Notify physicians of critical lab results.
Clean and organize the phlebotomy area, stock inventory upon delivery, and break down boxes.
Perform additional duties as requested by the supervisor.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Completion of a Phlebotomy or Medical Office Assistant course is preferred.
Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, customer‑service‑oriented environment.
Physical abilities: repetitive motion, standing, walking, lifting, visual acuity, speaking, writing, reading, kneeling, reaching, turning, and bending.
Background & Drug Screening Mandatory.
