Responsibilities The Central Sterile Technician assumes responsibility for decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of supplies, instrumentation and equipment dispensed to all surgical locations and other house‑wide areas. Also participates in receipt, storage and distribution of supplies needed for Operating Room case carts as well as single supplies needed by patient care departments throughout the facility.
Requirements SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
Certification Requirements:
Certification in Central Sterile Processing or Certified within 1 year of hire
Other Requirements:
Must be willing to seek out new principles and methods, and be willing to incorporate them into CSS practices.
Must be conscientious in regard to technical and detailed procedures.
Must possess a thorough knowledge of medical terminology and nomenclature of sterilization procedures and techniques.
Must be able to work successfully with computers and instrument management systems.
