The Center for Counseling and Psychological Services ( CAPS ) at Charlotte supports the holistic well‑being and academic success of students by providing clinical services, educational outreach programs, case management, and professional training. We serve as a welcoming, affirming, and accessible campus resource to support students’ well‑being.

Primary Purpose of Position

Under the supervision of the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services, this position provides direct service to students in the form of individual and group therapy, initial assessment clinical consultation, and crisis intervention; consultation with faculty, staff, students, parents and others.

Outreach ad crisis response to the campus community; supervision of trainees, and service to the University.

Doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology or a closely related field from an APA‑approved (or equivalent) Psychology program Doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology or a closely related field from an APA‑approved (or equivalent) Psychology program. Two (2) or more years experience in the evaluation and treatment of individuals whose age and psychological development is similar to traditional and non‑traditional college students.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Strong clinical skills, interest and experience providing psychotherapy to a young adult/college student population.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and willingness to work within a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic work environment.

Necessary Certifications/Licenses Full independent licensure within the State of North Carolina as a Licensed Psychologist (LP).
