Job Summary Position # 20000281. The College of Allied Health Sciences at Augusta University has a full‑time opening for a Physician Assistant (PA) educator and principal faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor in the Physician Assistant Department/Master of Physician Assistant Program. The role includes mentoring students as an advisor and small group leader year‑round. Teaching effort includes directing, coordinating, grading several courses within the PA curriculum over the course of a year, as well as direct lecture in the classroom.

Responsibilities

Teaching, conducting student small group, precepting students, advising students, mentoring students, supervising research practicum for students.

Participate in service to the department, college, institution, and/or community.

Submit publications for acceptance in peer‑reviewed journals. Present at professional seminars and conferences. Search and apply for extramural and intramural grants relevant to our program.

Participate in clinical practice concurrent with student instruction.

Required Qualifications Masters degree in Physician Assistant with three (3) years minimum as a clinically practicing PA‑C; OR Bachelor degree in Physician Assistant with ten (10) years minimum as a clinically practicing PA‑C and a commitment to invest in (self‑sponsored) and earn a Master level degree in a field pertinent to PA education within 3 years of joining the faculty.

Assistant Professor – early‑level career faculty member 0‑4 years experience in related field.

Associate Professor – mid‑level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

Professor – senior‑level career faculty member with 10 or more years of experience in related field to include five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. Per Board of Regents (BOR) policy, Professors must have a terminal degree.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions: consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements for institutional accreditation; evidence of ability as a teacher; evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned; successful experience (waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits This position is fiscal year based and works year‑round. Full‑time equivalent (FTE) is 1.0.

Salary and compensation for Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and subject to availability of funds. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, 13 paid holidays, vacation leave, sick leave, generous retirement plans, tuition waiver, wellness options, and more. Full‑time employees employed more than 6 months are considered for the Tuition Assistance Program.

Rank and salary are determined at the time of hire and based on experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, etc., while also considering internal equity and market data.
