YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE: Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor you will be ensuring the safe and continuous operation of our mine, handling planned and reactive maintenance. In this role you will be working as a
Hoist Electrician , responsible for supporting the safe and continuous Mining operation of the site, with qualification to install, repair, and make good items in planned and unplanned maintenance. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
New electrical installations
Mounting new and refurbished equipment
Pull cable up to 500 MCM copper
Work with up to 13,800 volts
Read and interpret schematics
Read and follow work orders
Troubleshoot electrical equipment including motor starters
Solid understanding of electrical test equipment, understanding different voltage hazards
Able to follow safety policies and procedures
Have good knowledge of hoisting systems and ministry log book entries
Office duties include daily report work and work order systems (SAP)
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Licensed Electrician
Ability to follow and understand all CSA/ESA rules and regulations, electrical troubleshooting, new electrical installations, and PLC
Motor control knowledge is an asset
Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
Ability to use and understand electrical testing equipment: multimeter, clamp on amp meter, megger insulation tester
Understanding of hazards and different voltages
Ability to safely test for live power when required
Ability to climb stairs
Ability to work outside during winter or summer conditions
Ability to work under pressure (when hoist is down)
Good troubleshooting skills
Experience with medium and high voltages is an asset
Good understanding of hoisting systems, compressors, and power actuated 4160-volt breakers
Basic understanding of PLC systems and use the PLC for troubleshooting
