Description of Work Unit
The Colorado State University (CSU) System, along with its partners, has developed a unique and exciting public facility called CSU Spur at the National Western Center in Denver, Colorado. The CSU Spur campus houses three buildings focused on water, food and agriculture, human and animal health, and sustainability. Within the Spur buildings, CSU conducts research and convenes experts from around the globe; students of all ages engage with science and have opportunities for exploratory learning, transforming their thinking about food, water, and health, and the careers available in these fields; and partners join in programming the space and bringing evolving content to the year‑round campus. CSU Spur is part of a
larger 250‑acre redevelopment project , which started in 2013 and reimagines what the National Western Center can be, creates a site that will support the National Western Stock Show long‑term, and makes the location a year‑round destination. CSU Spur was created with an
Anchor Institution framework
and is committed to supporting the surrounding communities through the programming and activities developed at the campus.
CSU Spur is seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join the team as Front Desk Administrative Support. These individuals will greet and orient visitors and guests to the new educational center in Denver, direct questions, and offer administrative support to the team. CSU Spur is focused on engaging PreK‑12 students, families, and visitors around the topics of food, water, and health through real‑world experiences at the new state‑of‑the‑art campus.
Front Desk staff work at the reception desks in each of the three buildings at CSU Spur – Vida, Terra, and Hydro. They are the first point of contact and representatives of CSU Spur’s goals, mission, and vision to inspire visitors through observing ongoing research and professionals at work.
Position will work 10–30 hours/week. Scheduling is flexible, however, a diverse weekday schedule is preferred.
Position Minimum Qualifications
Able to work in person at the CSU Spur campus in Denver, Colorado.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience delivering exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
Ability to use exceptional verbal and written communication skills to prepare and present or explain information related to educational programs and exhibits.

Duty/Responsibility
Greet students, guests, and multigenerational visitors to the CSU Spur campus in Denver.
Provide orientation information to each of the campus buildings, programs, and initiatives in response to questions and on guided tours.
Answer visitor questions and direct them to appropriate staff at CSU Spur.
Support building opening and closing procedures, including moving signage and updating the day’s schedule of programs.
Maintain front desk spaces and materials, including organization of informational packets, flyers, and materials.
Answer and direct the main CSU Spur phone.
Answer and direct the main CSU Spur email.
Support the CSU Spur Education team with orientation for PreK‑12 field trips, daily.
Support program, classroom, and event set up and clean up, as needed.
Participate in new staff training and onboarding.
Participate in ongoing professional development and training.
Ability to travel off site for events to represent CSU Spur and the CSU System.
Attend and contribute to team meetings.
Other administrative duties as assigned.
Distribute incoming mail, packages, and deliveries.
Assist with conference room reservations.
