Neonatologist Perm Position at Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston, WV
Location: 800 Pennsylvania Avenue, Charleston, WV 25302
Overview:
Join our esteemed Neonatology team at Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) Women and Children s Hospital, a leading Level-IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) located in the vibrant city of Charleston, West Virginia. This is an outstanding opportunity for a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Neonatologist to provide exceptional care within a collaborative, teaching-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive neonatal care in a 30-bed Level-IV NICU with an average daily census of 24 neonates.
  • Attend and manage deliveries, ensuring immediate and ongoing care for neonates at birth.
  • Offer 24/7 in-house coverage, supported by Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs) covering 12-hour shifts, to ensure continuous, high-quality care.
  • Participate in clinical teaching and supervise medical students and residents from West Virginia University School of Medicine and West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV.
  • Serve as a Clinical Associate Professor with WVU School of Medicine s Charleston Division.
  • Collaborate with pediatric subspecialists across more than 30 disciplines, including Pulmonary, Surgery, Neurology, Nephrology, Infectious Disease, Hematology-Oncology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, and Cardiology, supporting comprehensive patient management.
  • Opportunity to provide coverage at a nearby Level-II NICU as needed.
  • Engage in multidisciplinary discussions and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Preferred candidates will have at least 3 years of experience in a busy Level-III or Level-IV NICU setting; however, new graduates with exceptional credentials will also be considered.
  • Flexibility to cover shifts at other facilities, including commuters, is welcomed.
  • J1 visa candidates are encouraged to apply; unfortunately, we are not accepting Locum candidates at this time.

Qualifications:
  • Board Certification or Eligibility in Neonatology.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a high-volume NICU (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to teaching and research are desirable.
