Shift: Central Monday- Friday 6:30-4:30. Saturday 7a-11a

Job Summary

The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the primary point of contact for patients and represents the organization in a professional, compassionate manner. This role is responsible for performing high-quality blood specimen collection and processing for clinical and forensic testing while following established procedures, safety standards, and confidentiality requirements. The PSR I ensures a positive patient experience by explaining procedures clearly and performing venipuncture accurately and safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily phlebotomy and specimen processing activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor

  • Collect blood specimens using clinical and forensic techniques in compliance with established protocols

  • Prepare, label, and process specimens for laboratory testing

  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and data entry

  • Ensure patient safety, confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA regulations

  • Create a professional, safe, and welcoming environment for patients

  • Communicate procedures clearly to patients to build trust and confidence

  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors and a commitment to process excellence

  • Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, staff, and the public

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to deliver high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric patients

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry

Schedule & Availability

  • Must be flexible and available based on staffing needs

  • Includes weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, overtime, and variable schedules

  • Must arrive on time and remain for the full scheduled shift

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)

  • Medical Assistant or Paramedic training (preferred)

  • Phlebotomy certification (preferred; required in CA, NV, and WA)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience (required)

  • One or more years of phlebotomy experience (preferred)

  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment (preferred)

  • Prior data entry experience (required)
