Job Title: Recruiter – 3 month contract

Location: Chicago, IL – Downtown Loop

Industry: Nonprofit

Compensation: $30 – $35 / hr

Work Schedule: 9 AM to 5 PM

Hybrid: Onsite 1 to 2 days a week

Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a Recruiter to support a high-volume hiring function during a leave coverage period. This role focuses on sourcing, screening, coordinating interviews, and supporting hiring managers across multiple departments. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is highly organized, and can manage a variety of roles at once while creating a strong candidate experience.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment, including sourcing, screening, interview coordination, and onboarding preparation
  • Maintain and update the applicant tracking system with accurate candidate data
  • Build and nurture a pipeline of active and passive applicants
  • Conduct 30-day check-ins with new hires and attend new hire orientations
  • Monitor background checks and ensure compliance throughout the hiring process
  • Proctor literacy and skills assessments for candidates (on-site weekly)
  • Assist with the coordination and delivery of new employee orientation
  • Support job fair scheduling and participation
  • Prepare weekly hiring/ vacancy reports
  • Partner closely with hiring managers to understand staffing needs
  • Create and publish job postings across internal and external platforms
  • Stay up-to-date on recruiting trends and participate in internal professional development
  • Collaborate with the recruiting team to enhance sourcing strategies
  • Assist with special projects or committee participation as assigned


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience
  • High-volume recruiting background required
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems; Paylocity strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Strong skills in MS Word, Excel, and general database systems
  • Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive attitude with strong communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Previous nonprofit recruiting experience is a plus


Additional Details:

  • Contract role covering a leave (approximately 3 months; potential extension or conversion)
  • Start Date: Early January
